Home Again, Home Again

It’s been a busy two weeks for me, full of travel and fun times. I’m a bit discombobulated now and busy writing lists to help get me back in the swing of work and reality but I wanted to share a few photos (“real” and Instagram) from my trips.

First, I headed to San Diego.

I got my first peek at the Grand Canyon on the flight there.

I stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego which was amazing. They’ll loan you a Gibson guitar to play in your room while you stay! Every Sunday, they have a giant pool party called Intervention where they bring in DJs and locals and tourists come and dance. It was crazy to watch. (In the upper right hand corner of the photo is Gretchen Rossi, from The Real Housewives of Orange County.)

I took the ferry to Coronado and walked to the beach where it was gorgeous enough to fry myself to an aloe-needing crisp.

The afternoon at Pacific Beach was a bit too cloudy and cool but made for good waves and lots of surfers to watch.

I was home for about a day and a half and then drove to a lakeside cabin in Wisconsin. We had many, many cold, rainy days at the cabin. I took the Lensbaby out to play around a bit.

But we did manage a few sunny days.

We saw bears! The cabin neighbors told us that once, several years ago, they’d left a pan of Special K bars on the counter with the window open and a bear had broken through the screen to reach in and grab them. The next day, we saw mama bear and baby cub back at the window, snooping for snacks.

One of my cats, Spencer, went on vacation with us. He’s never been an only cat in his life (and had spent the previous week with 6 other cats) so he loooooved vacation. He is currently sulking under a chair after finding out that vacation was sadly not a permanent setup.

And then a drive home.

And now, back to work. :)
