We’re getting ready for another great year at the MN Blogger Conference! In addition to learning from some great speakers and getting to network with other bloggers, you’ll have the opportunity to get a new casual headshot taken at a special conference price.
You may think you don’t need a headshot (you haven’t even created your website yet or you’ve already had yours taken elsewhere) but it’s always handy to have a professional headshot of yourself available. There are so many places that they’re used now – your website, your blog, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, your marketing materials, etc. This is an easy and convenient way to get a headshot while you’re already spiffied up for the conference.
This year, headshots are $25 for a fully retouched, high resolution digital file that can be used online or in print. Yup, that means I’ll Photoshop your blemishes and yup, that means you can use the photo in online articles or put it on your business card.
Here’s some information and handy tips to help you prepare.
How do I sign up?
Click that link above and register for a headshot. Then come find me at the headshot station any time between 11:15am and 3pm on conference day.
Do I have to sign up before the conference?
Same-day registration will be available if time allows but preference will be given to those pre-registered.
What should I wear?
Image Consultant Sasha Westin of Fabuliss…Success with Style provided these tips on how to dress for your headshot.
– Drink plenty of water and try to get a good night’s sleep before the conference so you look your best.
– Bring a brush or comb, some makeup for mid-day touchups and maybe even a toothbrush in case the potato bar fills your teeth with bacon bits.
– Practice your expression in the mirror. You’ll want to look friendly and approachable and most importantly, you’ll want to make sure you have some life in your eyes (or the Tyra Banks smize for the ANTM fans among you).
– Relax! I know that having a portrait taken isn’t a favorite activity for many adults but our sessions will be very brief and painless and I will help direct you to look your best.
How do I get my photos?
Photos will be ready November 6th (give me a little time, that’s a lot of editing!). I will email you with access information to an online gallery where you can download your file.
Can I…[print, share online, use on a billboard, etc.]…my headshots?
Yes. You will receive a full-resolution file, suitable for printing, and a resized one that’s easier for online use. You don’t need to request permission for extended usage or but I do appreciate being credited. Your release will have more info on that.
