Okay, so I’ve made the changes to the rss feed now and hopefully all is right with the world.

So I’ve released a new site called Keep Up, Minnesota! My intention is for it to serve as a central listing place for workshops, events, etc. for photographers in the MN area. There are a few other site features that I’m still working on as time allows but the events are rolling so check it out!

Just a quick note - I know some of you follow the blog using an rss reader. I’m going to be modifying the feed a bit today. In theory, nothing should change for you. In practice, however…? I’ll be posting an entry later today after modifying the feed. If the feed doesn’t deliver any more posts, I’d love it if you could pop in and let me know. Thanks!

It’s live! I finally have something more than a temporary landing page on my website. Go take a peek…especially if you’re a client or someone I’ve shot with, you might see a face or two that you recognize.
Glimpses of Soul Photography - candid portraiture for newborns, children and families

I am happy and honored to say that Family and Children’s Service selected me as their Volunteer of the Month for April and profiled me in their newsletter and on their website. You can see the article here.
I’m equally happy to offer a 20% discount off both the session fee AND the print/product prices for employees and regular volunteers of FCS. Just contact me and let me know and we’ll set something up!
And if you’re in the Twin Cities area and looking to volunteer, check out their current opportunities!

Are you on Facebook? Glimpses of Soul is! You can become a fan of the page, leave a review if you’ve got one or just leave some comments. I like fans.
And lest this be another post without a photo, here’s a quick shot of some referral cards I sent out recently. All my customers get these, full of cute photos from their session, to share with friends and family. If you give someone else a card and they book a session, both of you get rewards. It’s good times for everyone!

Okay, I’ve got the newborn baby fever now and I’m ready to photograph some more newborns! So for the remainder of March, I’m offering $25 off my usual session fee ($125) for babies two weeks and under. Expecting? Send in a deposit for your future newborn session by the end of March and snag that discount for later! Gift certificates available, too (and they make a fun shower gift!).
Contact me for more info or to set up a photo session for your wee one.

This past Friday kicked off the third annual photographer mentor auction to benefit Thirst Relief International. A group of top-notch wedding photographers are offering 90 minute mentoring sessions (in person if you’re going to WPPI and maybe if you live in their area, on the phone otherwise) for auction and the proceeds will help to provide water filtration systems for people around the world who need it. There are some big names in there - Gary Fong, Kevin Kubota, Yervant, Mike Colon, Jesh DeRox, Jessica Claire, Jasmine Star, David Beckstead, Brianna Graham, Jerry Ghionis, Vicent Versace (John!) and a bunch more. If you’re a photographer looking to donate to a good cause and get something awesome in return, check out their auction site.

I shot Josh and Kelly’s wedding last fall at St. Anthony Main. November weddings can be risky in Minnesota but, although windy, the weather was quite nice and St. Anthony Main is a beautiful area. Josh and Kelly were super laid back, as was their wedding, and fun to work with.
I recently put together a book for them from MyPublisher and it arrived on Saturday. Overall, I’m pleased with the work they did for the price. The pages are decent weight, the color looks good and they have quick turnaround. With so few pages though, the book doesn’t really feel all that substantial and I probably won’t order dust jackets in the future as they smudge and dent quite easily. Overall, the books seem to be good consumer books but I will likely go with KISS for future wedding books. I’ve got a smaller softcover book coming from MyPublisher as well so I’ll be interested to see how that turns out.

I decided that one of my goals this year is to consistently maintain a blog. I’ll be tweaking this one over the next few weeks until it looks and functions like I want it to and then will hopefully continue to share photos as I take them.
