Happy Thanksgiving!

November 26, 2008

I’ve been a bad blogger. I turned a year older earlier this month and I just can’t keep up with the youngin’s anymore. Actually, I’m just busy getting ready for the Christmas season. Prints, albums, Christmas cards…all being dropped at my doorstep and then shipped off or delivered to waiting families. It’s exciting times!

And Thanksgiving tomorrow! My sister and I went to my parents’ house today to help my Mom prepare for tomorrow’s dinner. Pie and pumpkin bars and crescent rolls and green bean casserole today…the rest of the goodies tomorrow!

I have a lot to be thankful for this year. Lots of changes and lots of good going on. I’m so thankful for the wonderful photography year that I’ve had – the great clients I’ve been able to work with, the cute kids who finish our sessions by asking for another play date, the weddings I’ve witnessed, the opportunity to leave my job as a technical writer and pursue my passion full time. In addition to that, I’m thankful for my most excellent friends, both new and old (silver and gold?), a supportive family with parents that live nearby (and who I probably see a bit too often), and all the ways in which I am so lucky. There are lots.

Hope you all have wonderful holidays! What are you thankful for?

LBK: There's no such thing as too often!

.K: That looks like my cookbook! I sort of left it by a flame once... I'm thankful for you too, pal! (I know that part of the blog was aimed at me.)

Mat: If the food tastes as good as it looks, I see alot of Naps coming from the family tomorrow.

buglady: gobble gobble gobble......

Ben Dodds: To you as well....by the looks of these photos, you had some good eats! Chat with you soon! Peace **now go get in line for Black Friday

So back in Miss Ellie’s entry, I mentioned that my cousin was in town for a wedding and I’m finally getting to the “more on that later” now. My cousin A.J. married his beautiful fiancĂ©e Tara a few weeks ago in downtown Minneapolis. The wedding and the reception were both held on the 50th floor of the IDS Tower in Windows on Minnesota which provides an amazing view of the city.

The wedding itself was gorgeous too and I loved the fall colors they used. I was also lucky enough to be assisted by my good friend and posing expert Jeannette of Wild Curl Photography. We get together frequently to edit photos (and sometimes goof around, don’t tell) but we haven’t worked together since our spring trip to The Homestead so it was fun to get another chance!

A handful of images from the event:

(Hey, if you were the one who stuck your finger in the cake before they even cut it…what the heck? :P )

wild one: These are beautiful! You rock!!!

Tara & AJ: These are fantastic! Thank you so much for working hard to capture the moments of our wedding. We can't wait to see more!

Mat: An amazing set. I'm sure the B&G will love them.

Onsite Minnesota Photography, Minneapolis: I love the black and whites! Great work!

For some reason, the majority of my clients lately seem to be little ladies so it was a nice change to hang out with Mr. L for awhile! I headed out to his home in Plymouth over the weekend and we spent some time in different areas of his family’s home.

Favorite teddy. :)

To this little man, the most amusing thing that happened during our session was one of the dogs taking off down into the neighbor’s yard and Dad running after him. That brought plenty of smiles. :)

And aforementioned doggie, with doggie brother, enjoying the newly laid sod in the backyard.

Thanks for having me out to play, guys!

Ben Dodds: I love #2....can you say magazine cover!

Rachel: Oh my gosh- these are my dogs! (really, they are!)
