Once again, the Minnesota Blogger Conference was a great experience. I got to see friends I’d made the previous year and meet a lot of terrific and talented new people. This year, twice as many people opted to have a headshot taken and their donations helped raise nearly $1000 for Free Arts Minnesota. Being a part of that feels pretty amazing, especially with the money going to an organization that supports art and children, two things which are obviously important to me! And even better, the donations will be matched by a grant from The Pohlad Family Foundation.

Most adults don’t especially care for having their photo taken. I’m not photogenic, I’m having a bad hair day, my face is too fat, my teeth are funny…etc., etc. I can definitely empathize so I do my best to make the process as comfortable as possible. Creating portraits that people like is a great feeling, especially if it was someone who proclaimed it was impossible for them to take a good photo. Reading the feedback from some of the people who have received their headshots has been so much fun – I truly enjoy being able to give folks a photo of themselves that they love.
